Tuesday 19 March 2013

Liverpool are rumoured to have joined the race to sign Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama, says the Daily Mail.

Victor Wanyama

The Kenya international has attracted interest from all over Europe after his performances helped Neil Lennon's side to the knockout stages of the Champions League, with Manchester United and Arsenal among potential suitors.

But Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to gazump any potential bid from his Premier League rivals, with the 21-year-old expected to cost around £10m.

Wanyama, who can also provide cover in central defence, has one year left on his contract at the Scottish Premier League champions - who, with that in mind, are set to cash in.

Meanwhile the Reds, who are currently pushing for a Champions League qualification spot, want to bring in three other new players this summer, with some of the club's big earners expected to depart Anfield in an attempt to balance the books.
