Lampard to discuss LA Galaxy move with England boss Hodgson

Frank Lampard will speak with England manager Roy Hodgson as he considers his next move once his Chelsea contract expires, the Daily Mail has reported. Lampard is said to be considering an offer from MLS side LA Galaxy, but wants assurances from Hodgson that a move to the United States would not adversely affect his international career.

Hodgson has previously stated that if Lampard wishes to be considered for a place in the England squad for next year’s World Cup in Brazil - should England qualify - that he must be playing at a high level in Europe.

However, Lampard appears to be considering a switch to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. He said: “I’m aware of what Roy said, but it would be something we would have a conversation about. First and foremost I have to make the right decision for myself before anyone else. But I’d respect his opinion.

If there’s a time, whenever that is, where there’s an option of going outside Europe, I’m sure me and Roy will have a conversation.

Lampard looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after 12 years as a Chelsea player, with his contract running down and no sign of an extension being offered. That’s despite Lampard recently scoring his 200th goal for the club, taking him to within three goals of becoming Chelsea’s all-time record goal scorer.

Manchester United and Arsenal could give Lampard the chance to extend his Premier League career, the Mail adds, but LA Galaxy are understood to want a decision from the 34-year-old as soon as possible.
