Stubbs casts doubt over Moyes' Everton future

David Moyes needs assurances regarding his transfer budget before he commits his future to Everton, Toffees reserve team coach Alan Stubbs has said, according to the Daily Mail.

Speaking in a radio interview, Stubbs, who had two spells as a player under Moyes at Goodison Park before returning to the club to take charge of the reserves, added: “ The decision is more off the pitch rather than on the pitch. It will be about his budget.

He’ll want assurances about what players get sold and the amount of money that he'll get to spend from those transfers. He wants to see the direction that the club is taking before he commits his future to it. It’s a crossroads for the board as well, not just the manager.

Moyes’ Everton contract expires this summer and he has twice so far delayed signing a new one - first until after the January transfer window and then indefinitely, claiming he wanted to see how the season progressed in the FA Cup and the Premier League.

Everton were knocked out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage, going down to Wigan Athletic 3-0 at home. They fought back a week later in the league, however, beating champions Manchester City 2-0 with goals from Leon Osman and Nikica Jelavic, despite playing the final 30 minutes of the match with 10 men after Steven Pienaar was sent off. Everton are currently sixth in the table.
