Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has rubbished rumours linking him with a shock move to Arsenal, saying he "can't even imagine" leaving the European champions, according to ESPN.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be keen to add a new goalkeeper to his squad in time for next season, with current first choice stopper Wojciech Szczesny falling out of favour in recent weeks.

The Czech Republic international is believed to be high on the Frenchman's wish list but the 30-year-old has played down speculation surrounding his Chelsea future.

Cech said: “It is an interesting piece of news but it is such speculation that I think it's not even necessary to comment on it. I know of nothing, nobody has contacted me and, to be honest, I can't even imagine it.

"I don't even normally notice such rumours. But when it does get to me, I naturally look at it to know what to say about it later. There are players who do read newspapers."

Cech has become part of the furniture at Stamford Bridge since signing for the club in 2004, and has played over 300 games for the London club.

But with promising 'keeper Thibaut Courtois currently on loan at Atletico Madrid from Chelsea, there have been suggestions that the former Rennes man could make way for the 20-year-old Belgian.
