De Gea believes Man Utd have made him a better goalkeeper
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea believes he has developed as a goalkeeper and a person since arriving at Old Trafford, says Sky Sports.
The former Atletico Madrid stopper initially struggled to establish himself as Sir Alex Ferguson's first choice between the posts, having to share the role with Anders Lindegaard in his first season.
But a period of fine form has nailed down his place in the United team and the 22-year-old says that he is a better player now than 18 months ago.
De Gea said: "I've changed a lot in Manchester. I've spent two years in their football culture and it makes you change. I'm more mature as a person and a player. I'm a very different person from when I arrived in England."
His impressive performances in a United shirt have attracted the attentions of the Spanish national team, who have called De Gea into the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Finland and France.
He continued: "This is a special moment for me and a big step in my career. I want to enjoy this and learn from my team-mates, who are my and many other people's idols."
De Gea has made 33 appearances for the Red Devils this season, helping them to a dominant position at the summit of the Premier League.
