Juventus will move for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez if they cannot prise Luis Suarez away from Liverpool, the Daily Mail has reported.

The Serie A leaders are said to be keen to sign a striker to partner Fernando Llorente, the Athletic Bilbao forward who is bound for Turin this summer having agreed a free transfer move.

Hernandez has featured sporadically for United this season, unable to nail down a regular starting place due to competition from Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck, and is understood to want to play more regularly. The Mail claims La Liga side Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the Mexican’s situation.

But Uruguay forward Suarez is thought to be Juventus’ first choice, with Suarez admitting recently that although he is content with life at Anfield, he would consider interest from a Champions League team this summer. Liverpool insist however that Suarez will not be sold and he is under a long-term contract.

Hernandez has been at Old Trafford since the summer of 2010, moving from Chivas in his native Mexico. He has scored 48 goals for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, playing 108 times.
