Liverpool new boy Philippe Coutinho is delighted with the fine start he has made to his career at Anfield, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The 20-year-old arrived at Anfield in an £8.5m deal from Inter Milan in the January transfer window, and has already been granted his own chant by the Anfield faithful.

Since his arrival, four starts have produced two goals and two assists, and the Echo states that Coutinho, who has made one appearance for Brazil, is proving that foreign players do not necessarily need time to settle in the Premier League.

Speaking to Liverpool’s local paper, Coutinho said: “Things have gone really well for me here so far. Maybe because I played in Italy and spent six months in Spain last season that has helped me adapt more quickly to English football.

“Also I must thank my team-mates as they have helped me a lot with my first few games. Everyone has made me feel so welcome.

Coutinho went on to state his intention to remain with Liverpool for some time, continuing: “I hope to be here for many years and become a big player for Liverpool. I will continue to work hard and do my best to improve my performances and help Liverpool.”

The former Vasco da Gama player’s arrival has coincided with improved form at Liverpool, whose disastrous start to the season had some fans worrying. They have climbed the league and presently sit seventh, just three points behind Merseyside rivals Everton though the Toffees have a game in hand.

The Reds’ next league test is a trip to Villa Park, where hosts Aston Villa have shown slight signs of improvement in recent weeks having moved out of the relegation zone.
