Moyes should be backed with funds, says Everton's Baines
Everton full-back Leighton Baines has urged the club's board to give David Moyes more funds this summer if they are to be serious about Champions League qualification, says Sky Sports.
The Toffees currently sit in sixth position in the Premier League, with this week's 0-0 draw with Arsenal keeping them four points away from the top four.
Moyes admitted after the match that his side need to win all their remaining fixtures to have any chance of reaching the Europe's elite competition but Baines thinks the Scot should have been backed more in the transfer market.
Baines said: "We've been steady over the years. We've been shy of challenging for the Champions League and are edging our way closer.
"We have not had that big push in terms of giving the manager that backing to buy the players that would put us in the mix."
"It is one thing having it and obviously you have to spend it wisely. You have to get the right players. So it would not be a given with a good amount of money but it would definitely help."
The Merseyside club travel to Sunderland on Saturday knowing that anything other than a victory will leave only the Gunners, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea battling it out for two Champions League places.
