As his loan move from Manchester United to Leicester City is coming nearer to an end, defender Michael Keane has spoken to This is Leicestershire, confessing that his move to the Championship side has exceeded all his expectations and that he would welcome a future return.

Due to the fierce competition for places at the heart of United’s defence, the twenty-year old Keane had been unable to force himself into contention for the league leaders, making only three appearances in the League Cup. Eager for first team experience he joined promotion hopefuls Leicester City in November, and has spoken positively about his time in the Midlands.

"I would be up for coming back, definitely, especially if we get promoted. We will have to see what happens but I have loved my time here.

"This has surpassed my expectations. I thought I would play a few games but didn't expect to be playing every one. I have played every game and learned new things in every game as well.

"I have improved my physicality, and I am learning to use my strength more against strikers. In the air, as well, I think I have improved."

Keane’s impressive form has also seen him earn an international call up. The defender, who is also eligible to represent Republic of Ireland, made his England Under-21s debut last month, coming off of the bench for Liverpool’s Andre Wisdom in a 4-0 win against Austria.
