Friday 26 April 2013

The deal to take Andre Schurrle from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea could finally be confirmed by the weekend, according to Sky Sports.

Andre Schurrle

The German frontman has been courted by the European champions for some time after a number of dazzling performances in the Bundesliga.

And it appears that the Blues could conclude a move for Schurrle by the end of the week, with only minor details preventing the transfer from going through.

Agent Ingo Aspel said: "I am waiting for information from either Leverkusen or Chelsea, but there could be some positive news by the end of this weekend.

"It is an indication of how much Chelsea want the player that they are continuing to negotiate."

Leverkusen were believed to have been keen on bringing Kevin de Bruyne to the BayArena as part of any deal for Schurrle with the Belgian having enjoyed a productive season on loan at German rivals Werder Bremen.

However, the stumbling blocks in the transfer do not appear to involve de Bruyne, who continues to be courted by other clubs including Borussia Dortmund.
