Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that he will not move Theo Walcott to a central striker role, despite the forward netting 13 league goals this season, reports the Telegraph.

Walcott ended the weekend’s match against QPR as a centre-forward, and scored the winning goal, one which keeps Arsenal well in contention for the much coveted Champions League places.

However following the game, Wenger insisted that he still has no intentions of moving the England international into a more central role in the near future.

"I use him on the flank because I try to put a player in the middle who can score goals and having another player on the flank who can score it gives you a little bit of security.

"He (Walcott) is more mature in his finishing. His goal was similar to the one he scored against Manchester United. It's a short back lift.”

Arsenal have two remaining Premier League matches to ensure a Champions League place, against Wigan and Newcastle. Having played a game more than Tottenham and Chelsea, they will be hoping for a Blues win when Chelsea face Tottenham on Wednesday – a Tottenham win would see them leapfrog Arsenal.
