Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has revealed he is pleased with the signing of Brazil midfielder Paulinho, Sky Sports has reported, while the France international added he was happy to see Gareth Bale hit the ground running after a strong start to pre-season.

Spurs wrapped up the signing of Paulinho after the 24-year-old impressed in Brazil’s triumphant Confederations Cup campaign, and Lloris believes the former Corinthians player is the calibre of signing needed at White Hart Lane.

It's a good thing for us to have a Brazil international in our team,” Lloris said, adding: “It shows that the club is still developing and improving because we can have now some great players like Paulinho.

Bale, meanwhile, scored in Spurs’ 1-1 draw with Swindon Town on Tuesday, a game in which Lloris played the opening 45 minutes. “It's nice to see him in good form,” Lloris said of his Welsh colleague. “But pre-season is long so we need to concentrate on our work. It's good to see him but it's just the beginning.
