Wenger won't make panicked Arsenal signings
Arsene Wenger has been under increasing pressure over the past couple of seasons to bring marquee signings to the Emirates Stadium. However after little movement again in this summer window pressure has mounted on the Frenchman to spend again, though the Arsenal manager maintains he will not buy for the sake of it.
Arsenal have brought in just one new face so far this summer, that of Yaya Sanogo from Auxerre on a free transfer. The French striker scored 11 goals in 21 appearances last year in Ligue 1, however the Daily Telegraph are claiming that the fans are becoming restless once again at the lack of players coming through the doors of the Emirates.
Wenger has claimed that he will not be pressured into bringing in new signings like in 2011, when Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker, Andre Santos and Park Cho-Young were all added to his squad for around £25m in the final days of the transfer window.
Though no fresh injury concerns were raised following the mid-week international friendlies, Wenger will be without Nacho Monreal, Thomas Vermaelen and Arteta for the Gunners’ first Premier League game against Aston Villa this weekend.
