Liverpool set to pip Man United and Spurs to Willian capture
Liverpool have moved ahead of Tottenham and Man United in the £30m race for Anzhi Makhachkala left winger Willian, reports The Daily Mail.
The move could present something of a coup for the Anfield outfit, with Spurs and United both capable of offering European football this season – Spurs in the Europa League, and champions United in the Champions League.
However, Willian has taken the time whilst speaking to reporters to declare his opinion that Liverpool are a great club, and should a deal go ahead he would become the Reds’ second most expensive signing in their history, and finally end Brendan Rodgers’ search for a marquee signing that he has desperately sought all summer.
Reports indicate that Willian has had his heart set on a move to the Premier League since Russian outfit Anzhi made it apparent that they would be willing to sell due to their growing financial issues - they could also be set to sell striker Samuel Eto’o to Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea.
