Arsenal winger Oxlade-Chamberlain could miss three months
Arsenal have been hit by the news that England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be out of action for three months, the Sunday Mirror has reported.
Oxlade-Chamberlain had to be withdrawn at half-time of the Gunners’ 3-1 home defeat to Aston Villa after suffering a knee injury. The 20-year-old left the Emirates Stadium on crutches and while the full extent of the problem has not been discovered, it is feared Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered a serious injury.
If Oxlade-Chamberlain has suffered ligament damage he would be missing until November or December, putting him out of a number of crucial fixtures for both club and country. The blow comes at a time when Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger can least afford it, with Oxlade-Chamberlain only one of a number of injured players, while the Arsenal fans have grown discontented over the club’s quiet transfer window.
Aston Villa’s win came despite Arsenal going in front through Olivier Giroud shortly after kick-off - a Christian Benteke double and a late goal from Antonio Luna gave the Midlands side the points after Laurent Koscielny was sent off for the home side.
