Tottenham considering more than one offer for Bale
Tottenham Hotspur have received offers for Gareth Bale from more than one interested buyer, Sky Sports has reported, despite the widespread belief that the Wales international is to join Real Madrid in the very near future.
The identity is not known of the second suitor but Manchester United are understood to have held a long-term interest in Bale and David Moyes’ side were linked with the winger earlier in the summer. The report comes at the same time as claims no deal has actually been agreed between Tottenham and Madrid.
Bale has not featured in either of Spurs’ opening Premier League matches, missing both the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and the victory by the same score line over Swansea City at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Tottenham Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas refused to be drawn too deeply into the Bale transfer saga but did admit he hoped for the matter to be resolved soon. “We've gone on with our business,” Villas-Boas said.
“Gareth, unfortunately for us, hasn't been part of our squad, but we have a big squad to choose from. This team can only develop and we look forward towards the future. With Gareth or without, we can be stronger.”
Tottenham have added a number of new faces to Villas-Boas’ squad over the summer, signing midfielders Paulinho and Etienne Capoue, winger Nacer Chadli and striker Roberto Soldado, who scored the winning goal against both Palace and Swansea.
