Liverpool want loan deal for Chelsea winger Moses
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful of taking Chelsea winger Victor Moses on a season-long loan deal, the Daily Mail has reported.
Moses has been told he can leave Stamford Bridge in this transfer window and was not included in the Chelsea squad to play Manchester United on Monday evening, manager Jose Mourinho preferring Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne in wide roles, with Juan Mata as a substitute.
Chelsea are said to want a £2m loan fee for the former Wigan Athletic player and his £55,000 per week wages paid in full, but Liverpool are reluctant to take on the 22-year-old’s salary and hope to agree a deal with the Blues on lesser terms.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers enjoys a positive relationship with his Chelsea counterpart Mourinho from his days working at Chelsea during the Portuguese’s first spell in charge and while Chelsea are not willing to sell Moses outright this year, they would be open to a loan departure.
Chelsea are about to sign Anzhi Makhachkala’s Willian, further limiting Moses’ chances of regular playing time under Mourinho. The Crystal Palace youth team graduate has yet to feature in the first team since Mourinho returned to the club, having joined from Wigan a year ago under Roberto Di Matteo. Moses made 43 appearances for Chelsea last season.
