Rooney will not request Man Utd transfer
Chelsea target Wayne Rooney will not be handing in a request to leave Manchester United, according to Sky Sports, following his performance in the draw between the two sides on Monday.
Rooney was given a favourable reception as he played the full 90 minutes of the goalless stalemate, after which Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho offered an ultimatum to the England striker, saying: “The person that started the story has to finish the story. For the good of everyone it is time to finish the story. One way or another he has to say 'I want to leave' or 'I want to stay'.”
The Blues have already had two bids rejected for the 27-year-old, who now looks likely to continue his long stay at Old Trafford. This is despite Rooney becoming ‘angry and confused’ over new boss David Moyes’ comments over his role in the team for this season, and it now appears that the former Everton man has been reassured by the Scot.
Should Chelsea eventually miss out on Rooney, Mourinho will turn his attention on to pursuing other targets, with Samuel Eto’o, who he managed at Inter, thought to be on his radar.
