West Brom vs Swansea - Match preview and team news

Sunday 01 September 2013

West Bromwich Albion, who have failed to find the net in their opening two Premier League games, play Swansea City, who have lost both of their fixtures so far.

Steve Clarke

It was the form of Ben Foster, as well as the woodwork, which saved them from defeat at Everton last weekend. Foster was injured during the game at Goodison Park, meaning Head Coach Steve Clarke now has a slight goalkeeping dilemma. The early signs suggest that the presence of Romelu Lukaku is also being missed.

For Swansea, they have had two tough games against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Jose Canas and Jonjo Shelvey both appear to have settled well, but Wilfried Bony has not started either of the league games. Having played a Europa League match in Romania on Thursday, it remains to be seen how the Swans can cope with their multiple commitments.

Nicolas Anelka has returned to training with West Brom and could feature, while 20-year-old striker Saido Berahino staked his claim with a hat-trick in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday. Boaz Myhill will replace Foster in goal.

Bony is likely to start this time after sitting out Thursday’s game against Petrolul Proiesti. Nathan Dyer and Neil Taylor are both unavailable through injury.
