Man City are Premier League favourites, says Aguero
Tuesday 10 September 2013
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has claimed that his side are favourites to win the Premier League title this season, reports the Daily Mirror. The Argentine also did not cite Arsenal as potential challengers.
Man City spent heavily during the summer, as new manager Manuel Pellegrini brought Martin Demichelis, Fernandinho, Stevan Jovatic, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo to the Etihad Stadium. Following the activity, Pellegrini claimed to have the strongest squad in the Premier League, an assessment with which Aguero agrees.
He said: “Our squad is better than United and Chelsea. Manchester United are our primary rival, then Chelsea. Tottenham are good, and then there is Liverpool.”
Liverpool currently top the Premier League with a 100% record after three games with Man City on six points, having already lost away to newly promoted Cardiff City this season. Aguero’s side are looking to regain the title, after finishing 11 points behind their arch rivals Manchester United last season.
Aguero scored the goal which won the title for City in dramatic circumstances in 2012, and overall has scored 48 goals in 91 appearances during his time at the club.
