Hazard to be fit for Chelsea visit to Everton
Wednesday 11 September 2013
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is likely to be able to call on Eden Hazard for his side’s Premier League trip to Everton, the Daily Mail has reported, despite the Belgium playmaker appearing to pick up an injury while on international duty.
Hazard limped out of training prior to Belgium’s visit to Scotland with what looked to be an Achilles injury, and did not feature in the Red Devils’ 2-0 win at Hampden Park. The newspaper claims Chelsea would have been particularly concerned as Hazard has had problems with his left Achilles before, with a recurrence of the injury a possibility.
But the 22-year-old is said to have responded well to treatment and should be able to take a full part in training with his club, according to one of the Belgium medical staff. Hazard has started all four of Chelsea’s games so far this season, scoring in the UEFA Super Cup defeat to Bayern Munich. He has a total of 66 games for the Blues to his name after signing from Lille last summer, netting 14 times.
Belgium are well-placed to qualify for next year’s World Cup after their victory over Scotland, topping Group A by five points with two games to play. Croatia are second, with Scotland in fourth and Wales bottom of the six-team table.
