Hull v Cardiff - Premier League preview
It is the first battle of newly promoted teams this season as Hull City take on Cardiff City in what will be a hard fought encounter.
Hull fans would have looked at their opening fixtures and believed a win against Norwich would have been as much as they could of expected without being surprised. That is exactly what they achieved, but have also given good accounts of themselves away to Chelsea and at Manchester City, where they were perhaps unlucky to not come away with a point. The Tigers added quality over the summer and that has shown in some confident performances, but they must make sure the KC Stadium is a hard place to come to stand a chance this season.
The same applies to Cardiff - their home form will be key this year. And they have made a good start to that with a win against City before drawing against a tricky Everton side. The Welsh side have splashed the cash over the summer but brought in some real quality with the likes of Steven Caulker and Gary Medel. Peter Odenwinge will provide more Premier League experience to their front line and Malky Mackay’s will be interesting to watch.
Yannick Sagbo is still suspended following his sending off against Norwich, and Hull have three other players carrying slight injuries. Keeper Allan McGregor has groin trouble while George Boyd, ankle, and Sone Aluko, hamstring, will also have to be checked.
Cardiff will definitely be without Andrea Cornelius who aggrevated an ankle injury in the Capital One Cup game against Accrington Stanley. David Marshell and Steven Caulker will have their fitness looked at following hip and ankle injuries.
