Sunderland vs Arsenal - Premier League preview
All eyes will be on Mesut Ozil as Arsenal travel to Sunderland looking for their fifth successive win in all competitions.
For the home side, it has been a poor start with just one point from a possible nine, leading to plenty of negativity across Wearside. Paulo Di Canio went a long way with his public criticism of the players in the aftermath of their defeat by Crystal Palace and since then, there have been some worrying stories surrounding the club.
Arsenal struck the biggest deal of transfer deadline day, smashing their transfer record to sign Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, and the talented German has been quick to name the title as a realistic target for this season. The win over Tottenham before the international break can also be seen as a huge psychological boost, while Olivier Giroud is in superb scoring form.
Sunderland could give a debut to Andrea Dossena, as well as loan signings Ki Sung-Yeung and Fabio Borini. John O’Shea is suspended after his sending off at Selhurst Park, while Steven Fletcher could make his first start since March.
Ozil is likely to make his first Arsenal appearance, with Tomas Rosicky out with a thigh injury. Mikel Arteta, Abou Diaby and Yaya Sanogo are also sidelined. The Gunners have won on their last two league visits to the Stadium of Light.
