Sunderland boss Di Canio praises new loan signing Borini
Wednesday 18 September 2013
Sunderland manager Paulo Di Canio has hailed the signing of striker Fabio Borini, Sky Sports has reported, after the Italian moved to the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day.
Borini, who missed much of last season through injury, has struggled to make an impact at parent club Liverpool since joining last summer, and has only managed one Premier League goal for the Reds.
The 22-year-old former Chelsea youngster, is highly regarded in Italy however, and Di Canio believes he has the quality to be success on Wearside. He said: "Borini is a player that I have no worries about.
"He was available and we knew he could do a job because he's a good player and we knew our regime would be able to help him. We know that we can help him develop as a player and for us, he provides us with another option."
Borini will provide competition for the likes of Jozy Altidore, Steven Fletcher, Ji Dong-Won and Connor Wickham at Sunderland, and will try to help the Black Cats move away from the foot of the Premier League table, a position they currently occupy after gaining just one point from four games so far this season.
