Cardiff vs Tottenham - Premier League preview and team news
Cardiff face another tough test as Tottenham Hotspur visit the Welsh capital off the back of Europa League success.
The Bluebirds boast five points from four games, and can thank their home form for a very positive start to life in the Premier League. An impressive draw against a strong Everton side proceeded their remarkable 3-2 win over title chasing Manchester City, and will be hoping for another huge scalp this weekend. Malky Mackay has built an organized side who are hard to break down and work for the team, not as individuals. This could prove pivotal in any potential relegation scrap.
Tottenham suffered at the hand of their North London rivals two weeks ago, but have shook any potential hangover off in impressive fashion. They comprehensively beat Norwich last weekend, and many will say it should have been by more than two goals, while dominating their Europa League tie 3-0 against Tromso. Christian Erikson looks to have provided that extra incision missed in the first few games of the season, while the likes of Lewis Holtby and Jermain Defoe are looking sharp despite not being first choice.
Cardiff have doubts over Craig Bellamy, who has a knock, and David Marshall, hip, with both facing checks before Sunday’s game. Andreas Cornelius is still suffering from an ankle sprain and will miss Spurs’ visit.
Tottenham saw Mousa Dembele, Younes Kaboul and Danny Rose all come off injured on Thursday, but only the later looks set to be a definite to miss the game. Nacer Chadli is still struggling for fitness and may not play, while Aaron Lennon and Etienne Capoue and sidelined.
