Suarez vows to do his best for Liverpool after return from suspension

Luis Suarez has promised Liverpool supporters his full commitment, the Metro has reported, after the striker returned to action following a 10-game ban for biting in the Reds’ 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Manchester United.
Suarez played the full 90 minutes of the match, his first for Liverpool since he was seen to have bitten Branislav Ivanovic when Chelsea played Liverpool at Anfield in April. Suarez was subsequently given a lengthy suspension and though he appeared for the club in pre-season friendlies and has played international football for Uruguay, was only able to return to club action on Wednesday.
And despite having spent much of the summer agitating for a move away from Merseyside, Suarez has insisted he is determined to show how much the Liverpool cause matters to him. Suarez was also pleased with the team’s performance, even if the result was a disappointment. “ The result is not good because we lost but the feeling is good because we played very well, we created chances and we missed,” he told Liverpool’s official website.
“I know it was a difficult moment but for myself and for the team it’s very important I’m back because I can help the team and [being] off the pitch I can’t,” Suarez added. “We’ll keep going for the week and for the next game. All the time I try my best on the pitch. I’m here to help the team and help Liverpool and I’ll try my best.”
Manager Brendan Rodgers echoed Suarez’s vow, describing the former Ajax forward as “one of the most determined people I have met in my life,” adding: “He is very thick skinned and he will go and play anywhere. When you have been out for so long, he was never going to be fazed by it.
“The fans were brilliant to him. The support they have given him is unheralded,” Rodgers continued. “This is such a unique club where they support the players who wear the shirt and they were brilliant towards him. He recognises everything they have given him.”
