Fulham vs Cardiff - Premier League preview and team news
With both teams coming off the back of differing Capital One Cup results a close encounter can be expected as Cardiff travel to the capital to face Fulham.
Having overcome Everton 2-1 midweek Martin Jol moved to rally supporters behind Fulham after seeing his side go without a win since the opening game of the season. Jol believes his side do have enough goals in them to put a string of results together, and a glance at his team sheet will tell you there is quality in the side. Dimitar Berbatov, Darren Bent, Adel Taarabt and Damien Duff for example are all capable of creating and scoring chances, but they will all need to collectively improve on recent performances or risk the club falling into relegation trouble.
Cardiff meanwhile were on the wrong end of a dramatic 3-2 loss at West Ham. This made it two straight losses for the Bluebirds, and manager Malky Mackay will be eager to avoid a slump after a steady start to life in the top flight. What will encourage the Welsh side will be their home form - even with a loss to Tottenham in the dying minutes they defended bravely and remained in contention until the very end. This will give them confidence going into games, especially against the teams around them.
Maarten Stekelenburg and Ashkan Dejagah will definitely miss out as they continue to recover from shoulder and calf injuries respectively. Checks will be made on the fitness Aaron Hughes and Bryan Ruiz, both of whom are doubts for the game.
Cardiff’s Andreas Cornelius is expected to be available after his recent ankle sprain, but with fitness lacking may not feature at Craven Cottage.
