Swansea vs Arsenal - Premier League preview and team news
Arsene Wenger sees his Arsenal side sit atop the Premier League and will hope they can overcome a tough test as they travel to Wales to face Swansea.
Early critics pointed to an opening day defeat at home to Aston Villa as the beginning of the end to Wenger’s reign at Arsenal, but the turnaround in form has been nothing short of remarkable. Eight straight wins have seen a great start to their Champions League campaign, the club haul themselves to the top of the league and through to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup. There have been some wonderful performances from players, and in particular three players deserve mentioning. Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey and Mezut Ozil have been at the heart of some impressive football, and in this form, fans are finding it hard to not get carried away.
Swansea showed their class last week by turning up to Selhurst Park on the back of their wonderful victory in Valencia to turn in an impressive display when they could have taken their foot off the gas. While the club surrendered the Capital One cup they won last season this week, they have put a shaky start behind them to go five games unbeaten before their midweek defeat to Birmingham. Michu has been impressive recently and his form seems to have coincided with Swansea’s good performances in recent games.
Pablo Hernandez is available after his recent hamstring injury but may not be match fit, while it is expected Ashley Williams will overcome a slight ankle problem.
Theo Walcott’s recent operation means he definitely misses the trip to Wales, with Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky, Lukas Podolski and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all joining him on the sidelines.
