Wenger to speak to Wilshere over smoking pictures
Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has confirmed that he will talk to Jack Wilshere following what he calls his 'unacceptable' behaviour, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
The young England midfielder was spotted smoking outside a nightclub on Thursday morning, and the French boss, who's table topping side take on West Brom on Sunday, had not seen the picture but said: “Well, I disagree completely with that behaviour. I need to have a chat with him about that. There are two things. First of all, when you are a footballer you are an example, and [second], you don’t do what damages your health.
“The fact is that you can damage your health at home. You can drink at home but nobody sees it. But when you do it in public, you damage your reputation as well.”
A spokesman for the former Bolton loanee has said that he was not smoking the cigarette, and that it was just part of losing a dare.
It's not the first time a high profile England International has been caught pictured with a cigarette. In 2010, Wayne Rooney was photographed smoking, while Ashley Cole was pictured in a similar incident this summer.
Wilshere, who has ten England caps to his name, has been selected in the England squad for the two upcoming decisive World Cup 2014 qualifiers at Wembley.
The news comes on the same day that team mate Bacary Sagna has been ruled out for two to three weeks with a hamstring injury.
