Kinnear responsible for failed Arsenal move, says Newcastle's Cabaye
Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has claimed that only the club’s director of football, Joe Kinnear, can reveal the truth about how his proposed move to Arsenal broke down during the summer, the Daily Mail has reported.
In August, Newcastle rejected a bid in the region of £10m from the Gunners, which led to Cabaye refusing to play for Alan Pardew’s side. He has since been reintegrated back into the Newcastle setup, and he has also apologised to the club’s supporters for his behaviour.
And the Frenchman says that only Kinnear can reveal the full details of the failed move, which would have ended Cabaye’s two year stint at St. James’ Park. He told Sky Sports: “The only person who can explain what happened is Joe Kinnear. If he is honest, he will tell it. Otherwise it will not get out of my mouth.
“Was my failed transfer to Arsenal difficult to swallow? At first, yes. But you have to quickly get focused again, because if you go on thinking about it you have a grudge against a lot of people and that is useless. 'I quickly forget about it and go back to work.”
