The winger enjoyed the international break with England, scoring on his debut and continuing to impress during his second match against Poland, subsequently seeing Roy Hodgson’s side qualify for the World Cup 2014.
The 22-year-old came through the Spurs academy and has made eight appearances for the first team this season, following a successful loan spell at QPR last season.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas believes the loan spell at Loftus Road has made the most out of by Townsend, “Andros did extremely well at QPR, to show that level of commitment to make the most of an opportunity is credit to him. I am extremely happy that it has happened that way for him.’’
