Januzaj can do great things for Man Utd, says Jones
Phil Jones has backed Adnan Januzaj to do great things for Manchester United on a long-term basis after the winger signed a new five-year deal to keep him at Old Trafford, writes Sky Sports.
The 18-year-old made an impressive impact on the United side after scoring on his first start twice against Sunderland before the international break, and the youngster put in another impressive performance against Southampton on Saturday.
Jones had nothing but praise for his Belgian-born teammate after the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. “He's a terrific talent and it's an old cliché but as long as he keeps his head down, he can do great things for the club.
“There's massive pressure on him and he's only a young kid but it's testament to him that he's come in and done a great job,” Jones said. “He threaded a brilliant ball for our goal against Southampton. He was sharp, he has nimble feet and he'll do great things for this club if he keeps working hard.
“He goes about his business quietly and if he keeps producing performances like that, he'll be a real star.”
Moyes was quick to tie down a deal for Januzaj following an impressive start to his United career, but with just three wins from eight, the pressure is mounting on the Red Devils. United are currently eighth in the Premier League table and host Real Sociedad in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
