Jol pleased with Fulham win over Crystal Palace
Martin Jol has praised his Fulham players for their performance in beating Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace, Sky Sports has reported, with the manager describing the victory as “unbelievably important.”
Fulham went behind to an Adrian Mariappa goal after seven minutes but recovered to take the lead by half-time through two stunning goals from Pajtim Kasami and Steve Sidwell. After half-time the Cottagers increased their lead, Dimitar Bernatov and Philippe Senderos netting, to give Fulham a rare away win and one Jol feels was particularly crucial.
“It was unbelievably important to get a result and, of course, for them it was a game of importance,” he told Sky Sports after the final whistle. “We were on seven points and you get under pressure like all the other teams on seven, eight points, so we needed the three points and now we're in a better position for Fulham.
“You want 20 points first, then 30 and 40, which is not easy in this league,” Jol added, “But I feel we've got the players to do well and I think we're in a better position now.”
The defeat leaves Crystal Palace second bottom of the table on three points, with only winless Sunderland below. Palace’s only win of the season so far came at home to the Black Cats, while Fulham have climbed to 14th with the three points.
