Man Utd are struggling under Moyes, says Man City’s Toure
Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure believes Manchester United are struggling in the defence of their Premier League title under new manager David Moyes, Sky Sports has reported, with the problems at Old Trafford leaving Liverpool as a stronger contender for top spot.
United are currently eighth, eight points behind league leaders Arsenal - although City are barely any better placed as Manuel Pellegrini’s side are seventh with only two points more than United. City did however win the first Manchester derby of the season, running out 4-1 winners at the Etihad Stadium.
“United will find it hard to defend the title since they have a new manager and are really struggling,” Toure said, adding: “Liverpool are a big threat at the moment because they have a strong squad and their strikers - Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge - are scoring goals at will.”
City were runners-up to United last season, 11 points off the pace, having won the title the year before by the slim margin of goal difference. Pellegrini replaced Roberto Mancini at Eastlands this summer, having previously been in charge of Malaga.
