Fulham v Man Utd - Premier League preview and team news
Saturday 02 November 2013
Fulham manager Martin Jol saw his side go down to Championship side Leicester in the Capital One Cup midweek, and pressure on his head will not ease this weekend as Manchester united visit Craven Cottage.
The Dutchman is facing increasing pressure from fans with the side still yet to find its feet so far this season. The London club sit just two points above the relegation zone, and while October started with back to back wins for them they still can not seem to find any consistent form. Their last league match saw them lose 2 - 0 to an impressive Southampton, and while taking nothing away from the home side, Fulham were very poor. Jol will hope new owner Shahid Khan will give him more time while he has called on his players to make the Cottage a fortress again - Fulham have won just one game since April 1st after beating QPR 3 - 2, a statistic that may hold the key to any changing fortunes.
Opponents Manchester United haven’t exactly enjoyed the best of times either this season, but have managed to put three consecutive wins together as they look to put their title defence back on track. Results aside, performances have still shown that this United team are still vulnerable. Stoke would have considered themselves unlucky to have left without any points last weekend, with it taking until the 79th minute for the home side to get back in the game. However, there was a touch of the old United about the comeback, and a sign of things to come perhaps?
Brede Hangeland and Hugo Rodeallega will miss the clash through injury. Fulham made nine changes midweek and will expect to welcome the likes of Berbatov, Parker and Kasami to their ranks.
Striker Danny Welbeck is still struggling with a knee injury and will miss the trip to London. Moyes may well rotate his squad again with Tuesday’s game away to Real Sociedad in mind.
