Stoke keeper Begovic makes history following goal against Southampton
Saturday 02 November 2013
Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic made history during Stoke’s Premier League clash with Southampton on Saturday afternoon, scoring the quickest goal by a goalkeeper in Premier League history, finding the net after just 12 seconds according to The Mirror.
Begovic becomes just the fifth keeper to score since the league was formed in 1992, following the likes of Peter Schmeichel, Paul Robinson, Brad Friedel and Tim Howard.
Whenever Begovic was in possession of the ball after the goal the Stoke fans were heard chanting “shoot!”
The goal also means that, at the time of scoring, Begovic becomes the first keeper in Premier League history to take a place at the top of his club’s goalscorers list, tied with one.
