Man Utd’s Kagawa hoping to leave in January
Manchester United attacking midfielder Shinji Kagawa is looking to leave the club during the upcoming January transfer window in order to gain more first-team football and match fitness ahead of next summer’s World Cup, the Daily Mirror is reporting.
Kagawa has endured a frustrating time at Old Trafford since arriving in the summer of 2012 from Borussia Dortmund, struggling to establish himself as a first-team regular. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, and so far under David Moyes, he has been in and out of the starting XI, making 33 appearances and scoring six goals.
He has completed the full 90 minutes just once in the Premier League this season, and started on the bench for Saturday’s win at Fulham. As a result, the Japan international is seeking a January move, with a return to Germany looking most likely as he hopes to feature for his country in Brazil next summer.
Dortmund did enquire over the possibility of re-signing Kagawa in the summer, while their Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg are also interested in the 24-year-old should he become available.
