Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has waxed lyrical over the form of Samir Nasri, ESPN has reported, with the Ivory Coast international describing the performances of his France counterpart as “unbelievable”.

Samir Nasri

Nasri scored twice as City dispatched Swansea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, his second and third goals in his last two games after Nasri was also on target in the midweek Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen. Toure believes that new manager Manuel Pellegrini is getting the best out of Nasri, with form reminiscent of his Arsenal peak.

I think we have missed David Silva a bit, but Samir is unbelievable, an incredible player,” Toure said. “When you look at him playing before at Arsenal, he has this same freedom now. Pellegrini allows players like him to attack and enjoy this freedom and it's fantastic for him and the club.

Toure added that Nasri has flourished because of the change in approach from Pellegrini to his predecessor Roberto Mancini, who curbed Nasri’s attacking instincts. “When he signed for City, the first year was quite difficult for him,” Toure began.

You have to understand tactically that first year was quite hard for him, because he is such an offensive player and when you tell players like that to defend, it affects them, it's not easy. But this year he is doing everything, he's been amazing.

Toure also revealed his friendship with Nasri away from the pitch, saying: “He's quiet, he's calm and an interesting guy. When you get close to him, you love him because he's such a fantastic guy, always smiling. He's a nice guy, I love him, and I always enjoy playing alongside him.

Nasri moved to City from the Gunners in August 2011, and has gone on to play 101 times for the former Premier League champions, 16 times.
