Liverpool to have Coutinho fit for Norwich fixture
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers should be able to call on the services of playmaker Coutinho from the outset of the Reds’ midweek Premier League fixture with Norwich City, ESPN has reported.
Coutinho has struggled with injuries in recent weeks and was only able to play the final 25 minutes of Liverpool’s Sunday defeat to Hull City, having not trained in the week leading up to the game due to a problem with his ankle. The Brazilian suffered the injury in the 3-3 Merseyside derby draw with Everton the previous weekend.
Rodgers revealed that Coutinho required a round of pain-killing injections to even play a small part in the game against Hull, but that after coming through unscathed he should be available to face the Canaries.
“He will be fine,” Rodgers said of Coutinho. “He had no further reaction from the game yesterday. He's trained this morning, so all being well, he'll be fit.”
Rodgers could though be without centre-back Kolo Toure, who suffered a hip injury against the Tigers shortly before the home side’s third goal, put into his own net by Martin Skrtel as he attempted to block Tom Huddlestone’s chipped effort.
Liverpool go into the game in fourth place, level on points with Everton, a place below, and seven points shy of league leaders Arsenal. Norwich meanwhile are 14th after their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
