Chelsea line-up Ranocchia as Luiz replacement

Chelsea are interested in taking Inter Milan and Italy international defender Andrea Ranocchia to Stamford Bridge, according to Sport Mediaset.

Ranocchia, 25, has attracted interest from the likes of Juventus and Milan this season, but Chelsea are thought to be looking at the player as a replacement for David Luiz in the Blues defence. Luiz has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, and a transfer in the January transfer window could come about if Mourinho is able to secure a deal with his former club Inter to reunite with the ex-Bari man.

In the recent clash with Sampdoria Rannochia lost his place in the side to Rolando, meaning the Nerazzurri could have a ready made replacement already at the club.

Ranocchia is in his fourth season at the San Siro, and currently has 12 caps for his country - he is the only Italian at Inter to have played more than one game this season.
