Newcastle star Cabaye back on Arsenal's radar
Wednesday 04 December 2013
It would appear that Yohan Cabaye’s on-again off-again move to Arsenal could be making progress, with the Gunners reportedly sending talent scout to run the rule over the Frenchman during Newcastle’s 2-1 win over West Brom, reports The Chronicle.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is known to be a long-term admirer of the 27-year-old and was linked with making a move for the player during the summer, but a deal never materialised.
With Arsenal topping the Premier League table and looking to maintain their title push in the hopes of ending the club’s wait for silverware, Cabaye appears to be back on his compatriot’s radar as Wenger looks to add strength in depth.
Cabaye is thought to be keen to ensure a consistent and settled second half of the season, however, with the World Cup in Brazil looming next summer, and so a January move seems unlikely - certainly less so than a potential move after the international summer.
With Cabaye effectively going on strike the last time a move to the Emirates was vetoed by the Toon, it certainly appears as though the Gunners’ call will be one the former Lille midfielder will find difficult to ignore.
