West Brom midfielder Mulumbu denies saying he wants Arsenal move
Wednesday 04 December 2013
West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu has flatly denied reports that he wants to move to Arsenal in January, according to The Daily Star.
According to an interview in France Football magazine, Mulumbu attacked his Baggies team-mates, branding them “not professional enough,” and continued by stating that he could be set to join the Gunners.
The 26-year-old held a meeting with boss Steve Clarke, who revealed that the club are happy with the former Paris Saint-Germain’s explanation about the statement.
“We are happy with the explanation we got,” said Clark.
He continued: “I’ve read the interview and I know exactly how it came out. What he said has been misrepresented.”
Mulumbu, who joined West Brom in 2009 for a fee of around £175k following a successful trial, states that he would never talk like that about his team-mates, and also denies naming Arsenal as a potentially interested party.
He said: “I would never refer to my team-mates that way. I admitted there has been interest in me from other clubs, but I didn’t speak about Arsenal.”
West Brom host former champions Man City at the Hawthorns on Wednesday evening.
