Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis believes the victory over West Ham on Tuesday evening has given everybody hope that the club can avoid relegation from the Premier League for the first time, writes BBC Sport.

Pulis’ first game in charge resulted in another three points on the board for the club who were lifted from the foot of the Premier League table as a result.

"It's a great result and we have to put points on the board to give everybody hope," said the former Stoke manager.

"The fans were wonderful, but you have to win these games to give them the opportunity to do what I've come here to do, which is keep the club up."

Palace have now won twice in three games and Pulis’ side next face fourth-from-bottom Cardiff City on Saturday.

Pulis has an incredible record of 21 years in management without being relegated, but faces his toughest challenge yet at Selhurst Park.

After this weekend’s home tie against Cardiff, Pulis’ side will travel to Chelsea before hosting Newcastle and then face Aston Villa and Manchester City away after Christmas.

Palace went eight games without a win in the Premier League, after their 3-1 win against Sunderland in October, until they claimed a vital win at Hull City last month.
