Nicklas Bendtner has spoken of his relief after scoring for Arsenal in Wednesday’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Hull City, writes Sky Sports.

Nicklas Bendtner

The Dane was given the nod as the Gunners’ first-choice striker Olivier Giroud was rested, and it took him just two minutes to score his first goal for the club since March 2011 as he headed in from Carl Jenkinson’s cross. Mesut Ozil added the second early in the second half as Arsenal maintained their four point lead at the top of the Premier League.

Bendtner has returned to Arsenal this season after spending the previous two campaigns on loan at Sunderland and Juventus respectively, and has acted as cover for Giroud, but has started games in the Capital One Cup without scoring.

After his goal against the Tigers, his third goal against the Humberside club in his Arsenal career, Bendtner said: "It was a fantastic feeling, I think my celebration for the goal was a show of that. It was my first Premier League game this season, so I am pleased to have scored and that we won. "It has been difficult for the players who have not been in the team because we have had such good form and the players who have played have been magnificent.

"With the way people play now, it looks like whoever comes in takes it in his stride and goes with it, that showed again because there were a couple of changes and everybody played well."
