Morata will not join Arsenal in January, says Real Madrid boss Ancelotti
Carlo Ancelotti has dismissed the prospect of Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata joining Arsenal in January, although the youngster could be available in the summer, writes the Metro.
The 21-year-old has struggled to find game time at the Bernabeu with the front three of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo continuing to impress.
But Ancelotti still believes the club need him this season, but Morata could want away in the summer, ‘Morata stays because we need him. It’s true that he has not played many games but we have every confidence in him,’ said the Madrid boss.
‘It could be at the end of the season that he is not happy and we can think about letting him go but we need him now.’
Wenger’s interest in Morata came after becoming heavily reliant on Olivier Giroud, but the return of Nicklas Bendtner with a goal against Hull City on Wednesday night may have prompted Wenger to stick with what he has at the Emirates.
More encouraging signs for Wenger were apparent when the return of Theo Walcott added an extra dimension to his squad after two months out with an abdominal injury.
The Gunners host Everton on Sunday in the Premier League with a chance to extend their lead at the top, which currently sees Chelsea four points behind Wenger’s side.
