Arsenal’s Fabianski eyes January move to Shalke
Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is eyeing a move to German side Shalke, with first team Timo Hildebrand failing to impress at the Veltins-Arena, writes the Daily Mail.
The Polish shot-stopper has been in the shadows of Wojciech Szczesny, and the arrival of Emiliano Viviano on loan this summer has pushed him further back in the pecking order.
Shalke have shown interest in the 28-year-old after managing to keep a clean sheet at Bayern Munich last season during his five-game spell in between the posts.
Fabianksi joined Arsenal in 2007, but has failed to keep a stamp on the number one shirt, having competed with Jens Lehmann, Manuel Almunia and now Szczesney.
Fabianski’s contract is up at the end of the season and he has alerted Poland coach of his willingness to leave the London club, having made just two appearances this season in the League Cup.
A move to Shalke is looking the most likely, as the club are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper, having seen 34-year-old Hildebrand concede 24 goals in 12 matches in the Bundesliga this season.
