Stoke boss Hughes taking another look at Agudelo

Stoke boss Mark Hughes is weighing up his options on making a second move for Juan Agudelo after the player’s previous application for a work permit was turned down, but the move could be hanging in the balance as the Colombian has offers on the table from other clubs in Europe, according to Stoke Sentinel.

It is believed that Agudelo would favour a move to the Premier League and so Stoke remain optimistic that they can get their man if they can just get a work permit approval, but with a long-term deal on offer from Spanish outfit Valencia the 21-year-old certainly has options available to him should he find a move to England too difficult to secure at this stage.

Stoke failed in their efforts to land the Colombian just last month, and can not apply for another work permit until mid-March – but they remain confident that he can bolster their squad, and it is thought they may gamble on a transfer bid during the January transfer window and await the outcome of the application which should be decided in March.

Agudelo was traded to New England Revolution in the MLS in May, following spells with Chivas USA and New York Red Bulls, where he made his debut in 2010.
