Cardiff set to use Celtic connections to lure Ledley back to Wales
Cardiff could be set to make a move to re-sign former star Joe Ledley from Scottish champions Celtic, according to The Daily Record.
Ledley left hometown club Cardiff in 2010, becoming one of Neil Lennon’s first signings as Celtic manager, but with his contract expiring at the end of the season Cardiff boss Malky Mackay – himself a former Celtic defender – could be set to try and lure the Wales international back to the Bluebirds.
The last time Ledley played for the club they hosted their home games at Ninian Park but moved to their new ground in 2009.
Mackay sent his chief scout Tommy Johnson – another former Celtic star – to take a look at Ledley during Celtic’s 5-0 win at Motherwell, and it is now thought that the Welsh outfit are preparing to try and lure the 26-year-old back.
Ledley made 226 appearances during his six year stay at Cardiff, leaving at the age of 23. He has since made almost 100 competitive appearances for Celtic, scoring 18 goals.
