Bayern boss Guardiola dismisses Man City interest in Neuer
Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has warned Man City off from making a move for goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, according to Sky Sports.
City were reportedly considering a £40m approach for the German international to provide top quality opposition for England keeper Joe Hart and Costel Pantilimon – who has replaced Hart as City’s starting stopper for the last six games - but Guardiola does not want one of his major talents to go anywhere, laughing off the former Premier League champions’ interest.
During an interview ahead of Bayern’s Champions League tie with City, Guardiola was asked if there was any chance of a deal being done – to which the former Barcelona coach simply replied “No chance.”
Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini, meanwhile, has also had goalkeeping topics on his lips – and has spoken to Hart, who seems set to return to the first team for the European clash, informing his custodian that he must focus on the future and prove he is deserving of a place in the first team.
The Chilean manager said: “For him, it's a very important game and he must not think about the past, but think about the future.
“I'm absolutely sure and I trust in him.”
