Liverpool injury list set to scupper Aspas' plans to return to Spain

The queue for the Liverpool injury table could put paid to Iago Aspas’ plans to leave the club on loan, according to The Mirror.

Iago Aspas

Aspas moved to Anfield for £7m in the summer, but has made just seven first team appearances so far in his career on Merseyside. The Spaniard had hoped to move on a temporary basis, with Valencia and Real Betis on his radar offering a chance to move home to revitalise his season.

The 26-year-old could see his plans scuppered, however, as injuries to such key figures as Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge mean that Aspas looks set to be forced to stay to help maintain a degree of strength in depth as they hope to continue on with their push for honours this season.

Aspas had scored 46 goals in 136 appearances for previous club Celta Vigo to help secure his move to the Premier League, but has failed to establish himself in the first team.
